Our Team at Ai-on Lab

She currently works as a Medical Oncologist with both a strong interest and commitment to translational research at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori of Milan. In the last five years she has focused her research on Thoracic Malignancies, especially in NSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy and target therapy, being sub and principal investigator of many clinical studies/trials and closely involved in the coordination of various national and international grant applications on this topic. 

Alessandra Pedrocchi received her degree in electronic engineering and her doctorate in bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 1997 and 2001. She is currently an associate professor at the Department of Electronics, Computer Science, and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano, where she teaches Neuroengineering and Biomedical Instrumentation in the course of studies in Biomedical Engineering.

Francesco Trovò (Milano, Italy, 5 July 1986) is a tenure track assistant professor with the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy).

Emilia Ambrosini is Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering. She received her Master’s Degree com laude in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2007 and her PhD degree com laude in Bioengineering in 2011.

Vanja holds a PhD in Engineering and Technology from Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Currently, she is a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Electronics, Computer Science, and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano (NearLab) and actively collaborates with Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori of Milan.

Luca Mauro Invernizzi is a computational biologist with a strong background in mRNA-seq data analysis, protein modeling, and phylogenetics built during his hD  and previously during Master’s degree in Molecular Biology of the Cell. Luca earned his PhD in 2023, with a thesis titled “In-silico and biochemical characterization of proteins involved in Aspergillus fumigatus iron-uptake system”, at the Free University of Bolzano.

Federica Corso is a Bioengineer and a PhD with a long-established experience in the analysis of clinical and administrative health data. She received a Master’s degree in Bioengineering from University of Padua and a PhD in Data Analytics and Decision Science from Politecnico di Milano with a thesis entitled “A real-world data statistical approach to support decision-making in clinical and health policy”.

Chiara Giangregorio is a third-year PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering from the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bioengineering of Politecnico di Milano.

Aleksandra Zec is a Ph.D. student in Information Technology at Politecnico di Milano, specializing in computational oncology and digital pathology. Her research currently focuses on predicting immunotherapy response from NSCLC digital pathology slides using deep learning techniques.

Laura Mazzeo is a Medical Oncology. She studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Messina, earning her Master’s Degree in 2016. She obtained the title of Medical Oncologist at the University of Milan, completing her specialized training in 2023 at the National Cancer Institute of Milan.

Leonardo Provenzano is a medical oncologist at the Medical Oncology 1 unit of the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, specialized on breast oncology. He is currently conducting a PhD at the Politecnico di Milano, where he collaborates with the “AI-ON-LAB” artificial intelligence laboratory, directed by Dr. Prelaj.

Ghazal Farhikhteh, is a second-year Molecular Biotechnology master’s student at the University of Turin, currently working on her thesis at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan. In the last year, she focused on Molecular Imaging research at the university, honing her abilities in advanced imaging techniques, data analysis, and interpretation.
